A beautiful evergreen tree surrounded by golden sand dunes here in The Hoge Veluwe; one of my favourite places when I visit home.
I’ll go here in late afternoon, to watch how the sun slowly turns everything a warmer colour. Every second creates a complete different feeling and that’s what I love about chasing sunsets; you’ll never get bored of the same place.
‘We stood steady as the stars in the woods, so happy-hearted and the warmth rang true inside these bones. As the old pine fell we sang, just to bless the morning’.
Words explaining exactly how I feel about home.. I was born in the Netherlands and I have strong roots in Ireland. As a kid we’d walk along the beach, wander through forests and climb trees. Truly the best childhood memories.
The Corsican Pine
A perfect climbing tree if you’d ask me (or maybe just another of my metaphors).
It’s something I loved to do as a kid and I still do. I’ve been taught many great lessons in life, from ‘be content with small steps, every one you take reveals a new horizon’ to ‘always keep your childish innocence’.
Well, I can tell you that this tree sums up life.
Moral of the story; life’s too darn short so just have fun!
